Garba-Dandiya: Feature Evening Event

Come enjoy Raas-Garba, one of the most popular Indian folk dances, with us!

Garba-Raas originated in the western Indian state of Gujarat and are played in circles during the festival of nine nights called Navratri, by young, old, men, women, everyone together to traditional folk rhythms. Garba is a graceful mix of hand and feet movements with rhythmic clapping while moving both on one's axis and in the larger circle, like earth's movement around the sun.

Dandiya Raas is danced by people in pairs holding wooden sticks (dandiyas), which are hit together to create a sound echoing the folk rhythms.

No experience necessary! Basic steps will be shown at the beginning of the event.

Thank you for attending our mela.

We acknowledge all our partnerships, mela attendees and volunteers.
